Learning Outcome: Planning & Initiative
NOTE: This was posted October 26, 2020 but edited to add the learning outcome in May, changing the publishing date.
I have been working on my COVID-19 time capsule CAS project. As mentioned in my last post, I got enthusiastic permission from the elementary school principal to work with elementary school students on this project! Because I want this project to be international, I reached out to people on reddit (an online website where people can post and comment) under the IB page of the website to get find IB students who are interested in participating. The idea is that they will write letters, take photos, or make art related to the pandemic, which I will put into the time capsule. Hopefully I will be able to receive their work by mail, but I will ask them all to take a photo of it/scan it when they're done so that if they can't mail it or it gets lost in the mail their contribution is not completely lost. I created a very simple two question survey, which 9 people replied to (not counting a test run and someone who claimed to be from North Korea with an email address that includes "saveme" in it. I am assuming this is not a serious reply). Some of these are my friends, but the majority of them are people I don't know who saw my post on reddit! The survey responses I have gotten are from people living in Canada, Poland, Turkey, Italy, Uruguay, and the United States. I made the "Where do you live?" question in the survey optional, but all but almost all the survey respondents answered it.
